Matthew Hubbell and his family are active members of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Charleston. He is a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, an Episcopal men’s service group.

At The Citadel, Hubbell served as an Adjunct Professor in the English Department in 1997. Hubbell also is a frequent participant in The Citadel’s mock trial and moot court programs as a judge and assistant coach. For many years, Hubbell has been a class agent for the Citadel Foundation, which raises money to support scholarships and academic enrichment at The Citadel. He is also a member of the Charleston Area Citadel Club and the Citadel Alumni Association.

Over the years, Hubbell has been a frequent lecturer at The Citadel, The College of Charleston, the Charleston County schools, and business and professional seminars on topics such as environmental crime, computer crime, health care fraud, federal drug laws, and federal criminal procedure. He has served on the Executive Board of the Charleston County Bar.
